Toptube Coffee Company
Launch & Ride
It's morning on the Waterway. Fall is definitely in the air and the relative quietness of the day is punctuated by the arrival of cyclists and runners at Blue Door Coffee. I'm here, camera in hand, to capture and celebrate the launch of Toptube Coffee Company whose goal is to bring people together. Hunter and Luke's brand celebrates two great passions of theirs: quality coffee and cycling.
As the masses arrive in spandex and Lycra, preparations begin for the morning ride. Some have come with fresh legs and others have ridden to the event from near and far. The cyclists gather outside Blue Door and are led out by Jake Wilmott and his Porsche. As they speed off down the road, the only sounds are the rumble of the Porsche and the hissing and clanking of bike gears and chains. |
It is an hour or so before the first riders return. You can hear them coming around the corner and screeching to a halt outside. Soon enough, the zone marked for valet becomes a bicycle parking lot with an array of two wheeled machines in different brands and colors. The line out the door grows and Blue Door is hard at work cranking out pour overs, cold brew, and everything in between. The hum of noise grows as stories, advice, Strava segments, and workouts are all being shared. Bags of coffee are being constantly restocked on the shelves as people walk away with their own to brew. Even a couple vacationing from Virginia let Hunter and Luke know they bought a bag for themselves.
The celebration lasts until the afternoon. Luke and Hunter even have a raffle for cycling goodies that were supplied from local bike shops. As the event came to a close, the excitement didn’t. Toptube Coffee Company is LIVE online. Check them out and grab you’re very own bag from their website!
