First Friday on Santa Fe
Most of the adventures that I have had I can credit to Abby. She knows this city like the back of her hand and has a knack for knowing about all the best coffee shops and coolest events. First Friday was no exception. During the first Friday of every month during the spring and summer, the Santa Fe art district comes to life as people poor into the galleries which open free to the public. At the risk of looking like a tourist in my own city, I grabbed my camera to grab some snapshots of June's first Friday event.
What I love most about this event is the perspective is offers. Not only are you gathering with a diverse group of people, but you are experiencing the world from a different lens via the art presented. The art was odd at times, but often it made the viewer think and offered a different lens by which one could view their city and their world.
Even those who are not well versed in artistic ability can enjoy the unique experience this event offers. Walking away from this event, one not only has an appreciation of the myriad of pieces, but gains a new perspective on their community as well.
